Sunroom Conversion
The original space was underutilized and under-inspired, even though it had the most natural light and the highest ceilings. This sunroom, now record room boasts the most popular in the house, as it stands out with its warm red oak woodwork and hi-fidelity sound system and display. This is the power of a well-designed space.
This room is in my home and was a personal project. I'm most proud of the tile floor design, as it was something I came up with at the tile shop. I took a 12x12 black mosaic tile and cut it up to emphasize the 12x24 tile to create this look. It created just the effect and feeling I was hoping to achieve.
All the wood accents in the room are red oak. Evan Jones (my husband) constructed all the wood detailing in this space. You'll notice the custom shelving above the couch, but most notably the heavy duty but simple and elegant shelves that hold only about half of our vinyl records and have the record player inlaid. Evan decided to go all out and do red oak window and door trim, and we loved it so much that we've slowly been updating all our windows and doors to be red oak trim. The fun never stops when you own your own home and have free will!
